CUET UG Exam Pattern 2025: Key Changes You Need to Know

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG has undergone significant changes for 2025, impacting students’ subject choices, exam format, and question structure. Here’s a detailed look at the latest modifications.

  1. CUET UG to Be Conducted Once a Year πŸ§‘β€πŸ’»Β 

Unlike earlier speculations of multiple exam sessions, CUET UG 2025 will be held only once a year in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. The hybrid exam format has been discontinued.

  1. Subject Selection Limit: Maximum Five Subjects βœ‹

Candidates can appear only for five subjects instead of six subjects, irrespective of what they studied in Class 12. This provides flexibility while maintaining a structured approach to subject selection.

The exam duration will be one hour per subject per paper. The one-hour duration will be consistent across all papers

Unlike previous versions of the exam where optional questions were available, all questions will now be compulsory. And, negative marking will be applied.

The standard of questions will be aligned with the NCERT syllabus, making preparation more streamlined for students following different school boards.

The CUET UG exam will be conducted in 13 languages, including:

English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

  1. General Test Redesigned as General Aptitude Test 🧾

The General Test has been redesigned as the General Aptitude Test, which will be a key factor in admissions, especially for programs in languages and other dropped subjects.

  1. Removal of Six Domain-Specific Subjects ❌

The following domain subjects have been removed from CUET UG:

🚫 Entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, Fashion Studies, Tourism, Legal Studies, and Engineering Graphics.

Number of subjects offered is reduced to 37 subjects from 63.
Admissions for programs  that previously required these subjects will now be based on
the General Aptitude Test scores.
